Peck’s Landing
Round River offers three carefully selected access points to begin or end your adventure, depending on your booking date. For ease of navigation, directions are given with the assumption that you’re facing downriver, following the current flow. Peck’s Landing (S13608 WI HWY 23, Spring Green, WI) sits 2.3 miles south of Spring Green off Highway 23, directly opposite Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin visitor’s center. If you’re approaching from the south on Highway 23, it will be your first right turn after crossing the river. Pine-covered bluffs rise on the far bank, while a long beach and sandbar stretch upriver on the landing side. Should your rendezvous be here, secure parking and meet us near the DNR life jacket station with your gear.
Otter Creek Landing
A mile downstream from Peck’s Landing, Wisconsin Riverside Resort appears on the river’s right side, offering a perfect pitstop for dining and refreshments. Two State Natural Areas grace this stretch of the river, adding to its allure. Otter Creek Landing (7125 WI HWY 130, Avoca, WI), situated 2.1 miles south of Lone Rock off Highway 130, marks the confluence of Otter Creek and the Wisconsin River, just upstream from the Highway 133 bridge. For those concluding their journey here, keep to the left bank in your canoe as the Highway 133 bridge approaches. The launch, about 50 yards up Otter Creek, is clearly marked. Upon early arrival, park your canoes off to either side of the cement boat ramp. Similarly, if directed to meet here, park and rendezvous near the DNR life jacket station with your gear.
Gotham Landing
Beyond the Highway 133 bridge, towering sandstone bluffs adorn the river’s left side, enhancing the scenic experience. Three State Natural Areas dot this section of the river. Lastly, Gotham (Buena Vista) Landing (33699 Oak St, Lone Rock, WI), situated 1.5 miles south of Gotham, serves as a pickup point only. Approximately half a mile upriver from the landing, as the river curves sharply left, keep your canoe to the right until reaching the launch at the Pine River confluence. Note that overnight parking is not permitted at this location.
